Nero Avola is the most important and most planted red grape variety in Sicily. Vast quantities of Nero Avola wines have been produced in Sicily for centuries. Not long ago, Avola Nero was mostly used for blending and rarely appeared on wine labels, but in recent years, the potential of Avola Nero has been rediscovered, and there are more and more wines in the market. Most of the wines are made from the single grape variety of Nero Avola.
This grape variety is often compared to Shirre, mainly due to similar characteristics and its preference for growing in the Mediterranean climate.
Tasting Notes:Beautiful ruby red wine with rich aromas of cherries, plums and red mulberries. Soft and full-bodied, it is suitable for any meat dishes or soft cheeses.
