Winemaking:Natural yeast, aged 12 months in barrels, unfiltered before bottling.


Background information: "Carignan" is native to Spain and is known locally as "Cariñena", but it was mostly planted in southern France in the earlier days.

 

In 1939, the Carignan grape was introduced from Argentina into the Maule Valley of Chile, but the young Carignan was too astringent at that time and eventually faced the fate of being made into a cheap wine.

 

Over the past few decades, local farmers have discovered that Carignan vines that were at least 50 years old have been reborn. The acidity and tannin are elegant, and the flavor is complex and layered. Different from the heroic style of the youth, it has transformed into a calm, restrained and sophisticated style. The ageing strength of the wine has also made the Chilean Calinon one of the famous producing areas, famous internationally.

 

Tasting Notes:Bright purple with aromas of blueberry, dried vanilla and cloves, fine tannins and strong structure on the palate.
