Background information: Passerina wines vary greatly from region to region, but all have the familiar ripe citrus fruit character. In Machete, the wines are bold and mineral, while in Lazio, on Italy's west coast, the wines are softer, almost creamy."Passera/Passero" means "sparrow" in Italian. The Italian suffix "-ina" is a diminutive word, indicating that the Passerina grape is relatively small in size. The grape has a thick skin that turns a deep golden color when ripe. Ripe grapes have high levels of natural sugars and therefore high acidity, making for well-balanced wines in all but the hottest regions.
Tasting Notes:Rich, layered aromas of white flowers, pears and pears, and crisp apples. The acidity is comfortable, and the mild mineral aroma is the best supporting role. The overall taste is complex and it is very suitable whether it is drunk alone or with food.
