LA GERLA
La Gerla was founded in 1978 by Sergio Rossi, who attaches great importance to the relationship between man and nature; listening to the daily whisper of the land, respecting its rhythm and meeting its needs. Perhaps it is for this reason that in the past few years La Gerla has received high scores in the best food and wine guides and professional magazines, in addition to being praised by vintners and restaurants.
When talking about Brunello, we cannot fail to mention the legend of the village of Montalcino, the Biondi-Santi family. They produce many excellent Tuscan wines and have created a strong presence in the wine market. When Tancredi Biondi-Santi died, all the land was divided among his children, and Sergio Rossi bought one of the plots from the Biondi-Santi family in 1976 and founded La Gerla, respecting its original environment, which led them to become one of the best Brunello families in the region.
Sergio Rossi passed away in July 2011, passing on his life's work to his children and wife. The winery currently produces nearly ten types of wine, with an annual output of only 90,000 bottles. Maintaining texture and high-quality taste is their biggest concern and their only goal. His winemaking philosophy continues to be the benchmark for La Gerla Winery to produce excellent wines.
