La Scolca
La Scolca Estate is located in Gavi, in the province of Alessandria in Piedmont, where important agricultural activities such as grape cultivation and wine production have made Gavi and its reality a world leader. It is dotted with numerous medieval villages, each with its own fortified fortress or stately castle, and alternates between vineyards and scattered woods.
The 60 hectares of vineyards are located in the best areas of Rovereto and Gavi, enjoying microclimates and good exposure, with clay soils ideal conditions for the full ripening of the grapes, an indispensable prerequisite for quality wines. This is the company's philosophy: "To get good wine, you need good grapes."

The family prefers white wines, mainly French sparkling wines, and from this preference was born the intuition to uproot the red berries and plant Cortese, making wines as close to Chablis as possible, producing wines with aristocratic character, minerality and intensity. But it is all the result of a union of the earth, of man, and of ancient traditions, a union that has found its best form.
They were farsighted, as the name La Scolca means: it comes from the ancient place name Sfurca, which means "to see far". More than 100 years have passed since the winery was founded in 1917, when it created the famous wine Gavi dei Gavi and obtained the trademark in 1969. The current owner, Giorgio Soldati, has developed the company into its fifth generation, and now his daughter Chiara Soldati has joined the company. Over time they have begun to conquer foreign markets and enter one of the fine wines on the tables of oenophiles around the world.
